The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council has issued a riot act to providers of false news, with the goal of undermining the party’s presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in next year’s general elections.
In a statement, APC PCC Director of Media and Publicity, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, informed all disinformation agents and their partnering media platforms that the campaign organisation is ready to face and combat all libellous and defamatory publications against Tinubu.
This comes as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said yesterday that it may seek a court order for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to enforce a $460,000 forfeiture judgement issued by a US court.
At a news conference in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, called attention to Section 137 (1) (d) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended), saying that Tinubu is ineligible to run in the 2023 presidential election.
PDP asked INEC to remain focused and carry out its duty in compliance with the Constitution and the Electoral Act in order to instil trust in citizens regarding the integrity of those seeking public office.
