As the world marks the 2023 World Heart Day, a call has gone to Nigerians to cut down on spicy and salty food and engage more on routine exercise to prevent issues of heart disease. An Interventionist Cardiologist, Professor Mohamed Sadiq gave the advice after the 4 kilometer elephant walk along major streets of Aba, Abia state, to mark the day in the state.

As the world marks the 2023 World Heart Day, a call has gone to Nigerians to cut down on spicy and salty food and engage more in routine exercise to prevent issues of heart disease. An Interventionist Cardiologist, Professor Mohamed Sadiq advised after the 4-kilometer elephant walk along major streets of Aba, Abia state, to mark the day in the state.

Mohamed who noted that spicy and salty food increase the risk of high blood pressure added that people must cut down on sedentary lifestyle to help more blood circulation in the body.

Others participants at the event including an ex-international, Nwankwo Kanu and representative of the wife of the Governor, Matilda Anyamele observed that for healthy living, people should make intentional walkouts an everyday routine.

The World Heart Day is celebrated on 29th September of every year to promote different preventative steps and changes in lifestyle to avoid any cardiovascular diseases, like heart attack, stroke, heart failure and any other condition related to the same.
