Hoodlums have set fire to the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in Ebonyi’s Izzi Local Government Area, burning 340 ballot boxes and an unknown number of Permanent Voters’ Cards.

The attack is the third on INEC’s Local Government offices in less than three weeks, following similar attacks on the 10th of November 2022 in Ogun and Osun States.

Barr. Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner in charge of the Information and Voter Education Committee, announced this in a statement published Sunday night in Abuja.

He stated that the REC for Ebonyi State, Mrs Onyeka Pauline Ugochi, revealed that the commission’s Izzi Local Government Area office in Iboko was set on fire on Sunday morning.
