Rivers State University (RSU), Port Harcourt has banned all forms of ‘indecent dressing’ by both male and female students on its campus, effective immediately.
The RSU defines dresses and dressing considered indecent as wearing of Spaghetti gown, short skirt, blouse that exposes the navel or the breast, leg chain, long eyelashes, tattoos, wearing nose rings by both sexes of students, and ear rings by male students in a letter signed by the Registrar of the school, Dr. S.C Enyindah and Secretary of the Senate.
Tinting hair in different colors, sagging trousers, and fixing long eyelashes are also listed as indecent and no longer acceptable among RSU students.
According to the Registrar, the Senate of RSU decided to prohibit indecent dressing at its meeting on Thursday, September 29, 2022.
It instructed the students to take note and comply as soon as possible because enforcement of the directive would begin.
RSU has made headlines for prohibiting students who owe school fees from taking second-semester exams, including final-year students.
