Liverpool have officially announced the appointment of Giovanni van Bronckhorst as part of Arne Slot’s backroom staff ahead of the new season.
The former Netherlands international joins the Reds as an assistant coach, bringing with him a wealth of experience both as a player and manager.
Van Bronckhorst, who captained the Dutch national team during his playing days, has previously managed Feyenoord — where he won the Eredivisie title — as well as Chinese side Guangzhou R&F, Rangers in Scotland, and most recently Turkish giants Besiktas.
In a further reshuffle of the coaching team, Xavi Valero has returned to Anfield as the new head of first-team goalkeeping. Valero previously worked at Liverpool during Rafa Benítez’s tenure and now returns after a seven-year stint with West Ham United.
Meanwhile, the club has confirmed that Fabian Otte and Claudio Taffarel have departed from the goalkeeping department, as Liverpool prepare for a new chapter under Slot’s leadership.
