According to the police, Hon. Linus Okorie, the Labour Party’s senatorial candidate in Ebonyi South, has been detained for making statements that incited violence in the state.
There were rumors on Sunday night that the former legislator for Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo Federal Constituency in Ebonyi State had been abducted.
However, police in the state denied the accusations in a statement made on Monday, saying the legislator has questions to answer after previously evading arrest.
Chris Anyanwu, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ebonyi State, said Okorie was tracked down to the Ebubeagu security outfit’s headquarters at the old Government House.
Mr Anyanwu further said that Okorie had to appear in court for a drug-related issue in which he was charged.
