Olanrewaju Tejuosho, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has stated that the university will unveil its new substantive vice chancellor on Friday, October 7, 2022, who will succeed outgoing Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe.
Ogundipe, the 12th substantive VC and a professor of Botany, is scheduled to leave his position as VC on November 11, 2022.
Tejuoso made the announcement at a ceremony marking the university’s 60th anniversary, which held at the College of Medicine in Idi-Araba, Lagos.
The council shortlisted seven professors out of eight who applied last week.
Tejuoso has promised a level playing field for all candidates, claiming that as a proud graduate, he will work to keep the campus’s new calm atmosphere.
He stated that the selection process was democratic, fair, comprehensive, and transparent, and that whoever is ultimately chosen is the choice of God Almighty, not man.
