A three-month-old girl, her mother and grandmother were killed by a Russian missile attack on a block of flats in Odesa.

Baby Kira was pictured in the arms of her beaming mum, Valeria Glodan, in a tweet by Ukraine‘s parliament.

It called the pair “angels” and warned Russian “terrorists” it “will never forgive and forget”. The baby’s grandmother was also reportedly killed in Saturday’s attack.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy promised to hunt down and punish those responsible.

“The war started when this baby was one month old,” Mr Zelenskyy said in a video address at the weekend.

“Can you imagine what is happening? They are filthy scum; there are no other words for it.”

Kira’s father, Yuriy Glodan, said he had gone to the shop – and returned to find the bodies of his wife and mother.

He saw his daughter’s body when he returned later on Sunday.

“We were so happy when she was born,” he told BBC News.

“I was in the maternity hospital when she gave birth. It’s very hard for me to realise now that my daughter and wife are no longer here. All my world was destroyed yesterday by a Russian missile.”

Odesa’s mayor posted a video from outside the destroyed apartment block on Saturday night in which he told the attackers they would “burn in hell”.

Eight people died and 18 were injured in the attack on the city, said President Zelenskyy.

Ukraine’s armed forces said two missiles hit a military facility and that two residential buildings and two more were destroyed.

Defenders managed to shoot down several missiles, said interior minister Anton Gerashchenko.

Russia claimed the attack had destroyed a logistics terminal containing US and European-supplied weapons.

Odesa – on the Black Sea coast – has largely been spared the onslaught unleashed elsewhere. The last major attack on or near the city was early April.

Elsewhere, cities such as Mariupol have been left devastated and Ukrainian officials say thousands of civilians have died.
