According to reports, Elon Musk’s Twitter may charge $20 per month to approve a user’s request for a verification badge.
Musk, the world’s richest man, recently paid $44 billion for the social media platform.
According to reports, those who are already verified will have 90 days to subscribe or their verified status will be lost.
According to Platformer and The Verge, Twitter Blue currently costs $4.99/month and allows users to edit their tweets, get early access to new features, and more, but it does not currently support verification.
Musk has been vocal about his desire to improve how Twitter verifies accounts and handles bot issues, and on Sunday, October 30, he tweeted that “the entire verification process is being revamped right now.”
Twitter currently earns the majority of its revenue through advertising, but these and other changes are part of Musk’s plans to make subscriptions account for at least “half of the company’s overall revenue.”
