Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard suffered a suspected groin injury during the Gunners’ pre-season friendly against Tottenham Hotspur at the Kai Tak Sports Park in Hong Kong.

The Belgian forward, who has played a key role in Mikel Arteta’s squad since arriving in January 2023 for £27 million, came on as a second-half substitute but had to be withdrawn in the 85th minute after picking up the injury.

The full extent of the issue remains unclear, with more information expected during Arteta’s post-match press conference.

Trossard’s future at Arsenal is currently uncertain, with Borussia Dortmund reportedly interested in signing him. Several Premier League clubs are also said to be monitoring his situation as the summer transfer window progresses.

Arsenal are believed to be open to selling the 30-year-old for the right price.

The Gunners are targeting Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze, and Trossard’s potential departure could help raise funds to secure a move for the 27-year-old.

Meanwhile, Arsenal suffered their first pre-season defeat following a 1-0 loss to Spurs. The only goal came from Pape Matar Sarr, who struck from the halfway line after goalkeeper David Raya was caught off his line. However, controversy surrounded the goal, as Richarlison appeared to foul Myles Lewis-Skelly in the build-up. With no VAR in use, the goal stood.

Arsenal will round off their pre-season with home fixtures against Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao before opening their Premier League campaign against Manchester United at Old Trafford on August 17.
