Eleven people were killed in a car accident on the Alkaleri-Gombe highway in the village of Hawan Jaki.
The accident happened on Saturday, October 15, evening, and involved a Toyota Hiace commercial bus with registration number BA114-A28 from the Yankari Express fleet and a Dangote Group DAF truck with registration number JMU169XA.
Yusuf Abdullahi, State Sector Commander of the Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC), confirmed the crash in a statement on Sunday, October 16, saying nine people were also injured.
According to the statement, dangerous driving was the most likely cause of the fatal accident.
Abdullahi urged motorists to obey traffic laws, especially during the Ember months when there is a high volume of vehicular traffic on the roads.
