According to the Kwara State Police Command, its agents detained a doctor from Kaiama General Hospital named Adeyemi over the alleged kidnapping and murder of two women.
In 2021, Adeyemi is accused of abducting and murdering two housewives: Nofisat Halidu and his girlfriend Ifeoluwa.
While Nofisat, a housewife in Kaiama, was reported missing by her husband, one Mr. Halidu, Ifeoluwa was reported missing in the Tanke area.
On Sunday, October 2nd, SP Ajayi Okasanmi, the Police Public Relations Officer, released a statement in which the police officially acknowledged the incident.
Part of the statement read, “Upon taking office as Kwara State’s Commissioner of Police, while reviewing some petitions written by some citizens, a specific case struck the CP, Paul Odama, regarding a reported case of one missing woman, Nofisat Halidu, in Kaiama, Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, on November 21, 2021.
“The case investigation started on September 30, 2022, per the CP’s directive. pursuing a lead made possible by the arrest and confession of a man named Dr. Adio Adeyemi Adebowale in the state of Edo, who admitted to killing his girlfriend Ifeoluwa, who was reported missing in the Tanke neighborhood of Ilorin sometime in 2021 and whose body was later found in a bush in the Alapa neighborhood of Ilorin where he lived.
“The said doctor happened to be the Chief Medical Director of Kaiama General Hospital. The team was led to Kaiama General Hospital, where the suspect’s office was forced open. A quick glance around the office revealed a suspicious sight of freshly cemented floor tiles; curiously, the tiles were broken, and the detectives were greeted with a gory sight. The decomposing body of an unidentified female lay inside the shallow grave.
“Further searches of the office led to the opening of a trash can, where another body of a lady later identified as the previously reported missing Nofisat Halidu was discovered by the husband, one Mr Halidu, and other members of the community who were present at the time of the search.”
“Other items found in the detained doctor’s office include two telephone handsets found in one of the ladies’ handbags found in the doctor’s drawer.” Two female handbags, a female wig, a female veil, and female pants are included.
“In order to further the investigation, the Kwara CP has contacted the Edo State Police Command and requested that the suspect be released to the Kwara State Police Command to answer some questions about the discoveries in his office.”
The police also claimed to have rescued the wife of a monarch, Owa Onire, from Ifelodun LGA in Kwara State, who had been kidnapped alongside the monarch on Saturday.
The police said they arrested two suspects in connection with the kidnapping: Bello Abubakar and Bawa Seketi.
