The Lagos Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a young boy who allegedly died, due to injection overdose in a hospital in the Ogombo neighborhood of Lagos.

On Thursday, September 29th, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, a Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Lagos, confirmed the incident, stating that although the police had information about the incident, no one had filed a formal report about it.

The father of the deceased in a video, going viral, yesterday, Thursday September 29, was seen lamenting that his son, whose name was undisclosed, received four injections from a nurse and later died.

In the Video, he said

“I asked my son later if he wanted to eat his cereal because he liked it, but he said no. He fell asleep again, and I woke him up at four in the morning to eat again, but he was still unwilling. He would be hungry, so I knew he would still eat before dawn.”

“Around 7 a.m., the nurse arrived and told me to prepare him for another injection, I asked the nurse if he could eat his cereal first, and as soon as my son heard this, he wanted to eat as well. However, the nurse insisted that he take the injection. I insisted once more, but she was adamant and gave him the injections. My son yelled, ‘Mummy, daddy, my hand,’ and that was the end of it. He went cold and died. I lost my son.”

The father asserted that his son vomited after receiving drug injections on Wednesday, and impressed on the nurse the need for him to eat something before taking the next injection.

He emphasized that a nurse gave the child the four injections without the child eating anything, and the child died as a result of it.

“I went to the Ogombo Police Station to report everything that happened, but I was told that they (the hospital) had already reported the incident. Everything was known to the DPO. Nobody can explain what happened; all they keep talking about around here is autopsies.”

“Please Nigerians, I need your assistance. Human rights attorneys, I need your assistance. I need help, I need help, and I need an explanation for what they did to my son. Already, they are enquiring as to which state I am from. Is this how Nigeria and this state are? a nation where I pay taxes.”
