President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that the Armed Forces of Nigeria, working with other security agencies, are winning the war against terrorism, banditry, and violent crimes across the country.
In his 65th Independence Anniversary broadcast on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, the President commended troops for their sacrifices in restoring peace and protecting citizens.
“They are winning the war against terrorism, banditry, and other violent crimes. We see their victories in their blood and sweat as they strive to stamp out Boko Haram terror in the North-East, IPOB/ESN terror in the South-East, and banditry and kidnapping across the country,” Tinubu said.
He noted that peace has returned to hundreds of liberated communities in the North-West and North-East, with thousands of displaced residents resettled in their homes.
The President also addressed the economic challenges facing Nigerians, admitting that his administration’s reforms had brought temporary hardships through inflation and rising living costs. However, he insisted the measures were necessary to prevent economic collapse.
“Our macroeconomic progress has proven that our sacrifices have not been in vain. Together, we are laying a new foundation cast in concrete, not on quicksand,” he added.
