Kano State Governor, Abba Kabiru Yusuf, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remove the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, over his absence from the 65th Independence Day celebration in Kano.

The governor made the call on Tuesday during his address at the parade held at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata. Yusuf expressed displeasure that the traditional police escort vehicle was missing from the event, forcing his aides to arrange his movement with his official pilot car.

He accused the commissioner of police of deliberately withdrawing from the ceremony at the last minute to undermine his office, describing the action as “unethical, unprofessional, and a disservice to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

“We condemn this unprofessional attitude of the Commissioner of Police. History will judge his actions. I had to use my own pilot car to go round,” Yusuf said, adding that he had filed a petition through the Office of the National Security Adviser for onward submission to the President.

The governor called on President Tinubu, whom he described as “a no-nonsense man,” to take immediate action by removing the police commissioner from Kano.
