President Bola Tinubu on Thursday defended his frequent overseas trips, insisting they are focused on attracting investments, creating jobs, and ensuring long-term prosperity for Nigerians.

In a statement on his verified X handle, @PBAT, shortly after returning from official engagements in Japan and Brazil, Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to restoring Nigeria’s pride and dignity on the global stage, a mandate he said Nigerians entrusted to him in 2023.

According to him, Nigeria’s participation at the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in Japan strengthened ties expected to deliver new investments in industry, technology, and human capital development.

He added that during his visit to Brazil, his administration advanced partnerships in trade, agriculture, aviation, and finance, while also engaging with Nigerian business leaders to reinforce confidence in the economy.

“Every handshake, every agreement, and every meeting is guided by one goal: to secure opportunities that translate into growth, jobs, and prosperity for Nigerians,” Tinubu stated.

The President emphasized that his government is committed to building a Nigeria that is “confident abroad and resilient at home,” anchored on reforms designed to outlast the current administration. He also assured that Nigerians in the diaspora remain central to his development agenda.

“The journey is not without challenges, but with unity of purpose and courage to reform, I firmly believe the best is on the horizon,” he said, before concluding his message with a prayer for the nation.
