The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced an upward review of fees for Nigerian standard passports, with the new charges set to take effect from September 1, 2025.
In a statement on Thursday, signed by Service Public Relations Officer ACI AS Akinlabi, the agency said the adjustment was necessary to maintain the quality and integrity of Nigerian passports while ensuring sustainable service delivery.
Under the new structure, applications made within Nigeria will cost ₦100,000 for a 32-page passport with five-year validity and ₦200,000 for a 64-page passport with ten-year validity.
The NIS clarified that passport fees for Nigerians abroad remain unchanged at $150 for a 32-page, five-year passport and $230 for a 64-page, ten-year passport.
The agency said the review is part of broader reforms to improve efficiency, strengthen operational standards, and sustain the quality of travel documents. It reaffirmed its commitment to balancing effective service delivery with accessibility for all Nigerians.
