Nigeria’s Super Falcons have stormed into the semi-finals of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a commanding 5-0 victory over Zambia’s Copper Queens in the quarter-finals held in Casablanca.
From the first whistle, the Falcons displayed dominance and cohesion. Osinachi Ohale opened the scoring in just the second minute, heading home a perfectly delivered free-kick by Esther Okoronkwo.
Okoronkwo soon turned from provider to scorer, doubling Nigeria’s lead after a clever assist from captain Rasheedat Ajibade. Just before the halftime whistle, Chinwendu Ihezuo added a third, giving Nigeria a comfortable 3-0 cushion at the break.
Zambia came out in the second half determined to fight back, but the Super Falcons held firm. Oluwatosin Demehin extended the lead with a powerful header, and Folashade Ijamilusi sealed the emphatic win, converting Ajibade’s low cross into the net.
With this result, Nigeria remains unbeaten and has yet to concede a single goal in the tournament—an impressive show of both attacking flair and defensive solidity.
The Super Falcons now await the winner between South Africa and Senegal as they continue their quest for yet another continental title.
