Sunderland have struck a deal with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka, with the transfer fee understood to be around £15 million, according to Sky Sports News.
This comes after Sunderland had already agreed personal terms with the former Arsenal star last week.
Xhaka, 32, is set to sign a three-year contract, bringing a wealth of experience to Sunderland’s midfield.
In a decisive move to finalize the deal, Sunderland increased their initial offer by £7 million.
The veteran midfielder has now been granted permission to travel to the UK to complete his medical.
