Vice President Kashim Shettima on Monday condoled with the government and people of Borno State following the recent terrorist attack in Darajamal community, Bama Local Government Area, which claimed several lives, including civilians and soldiers.

In a statement issued by the State House, Shettima reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to the Armed Forces to strengthen security operations nationwide. He said the move includes deploying advanced military hardware and surveillance equipment to intensify the fight against terrorist groups.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, the people of Borno State, and the Nigerian military over the tragic loss of our compatriots. These deaths have left the entire nation in grief, but we are confident that justice will be served for the bereaved families,” the Vice President said.

The release noted that Governor Zulum had visited Darajamal on Saturday to commiserate with families affected by the Boko Haram attack.

Shettima expressed confidence in the Armed Forces’ capacity to contain security threats, citing Tinubu’s approval for acquiring additional drones and the directive for security agencies to review operational strategies.

He also highlighted the federal government’s ongoing consideration of establishing state police, stressing the need for specialized security units familiar with local terrain and culture to address state-specific challenges.

The Vice President concluded with prayers for the victims’ families and assured Borno residents of continued federal support in tackling insurgency.
