The Retired Members of Nigerian Armed Forces (REMENAF) and Coalition of Concerned Veterans (CCV) are reportedly staging the third phase of their protests over Non -payment of their Security Debarment Allowance (SDA) amongst others, at the Ministry of Defence (MOD) FCT, Abuja.

According to reports gathered from an unknown source, today Tuesday 27 September 2022 marks Day 2 of the protest which commenced yesterday, Monday 26th September 2022 as planned.

However, the protest which kicked off at 1155hrs today, is becoming more confrontational as the military veterans have blocked access to all gates at the Ministry of Defence located at Ship House on Olusegun Obasanjo Way, Area 10, Garki, Abuja, thus denying all Ministers and Directors access into the facility.

Recall, the Veterans had in January this year, picketed the ministries of Finance, Defence, and the National Assembly in pursuit of the same demand, all of which yielded no resolve, leaving the Veterans no choice but to stage a protest.

The protest, though planned to be peaceful, is gradually snowballing into violence as pockets of altercations with the military authority is becoming obvious.

The source has however advised stakeholders to avoid protest locations, and adjourning areas, plan and take alternative routes if situation warrant, expect deployment of GSFs around the protest areas, contact SRMT/SFPs to provide support or guidance and finally take responsibility & stay safe.
