Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike inaugurated the first batch of 100,000 special assistants yesterday.

They were recently selected by the governor to lead political units in their respective wards ahead of the 2023 general election.

The beneficiaries were inaugurated in the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Omagwa, Ikwerre Local Government Area.

Wike congratulated them on their prestigious positions and asked them to work with their constituents and learn about their perspectives on his administration’s programmes and objectives.

He stated that as special assistants, they were to collect such impressions and pass them on as feedback to the newly created 319 Ward and 32 Constituency Liaison Officers, who would then communicate them to his office.
