The New Orleans-based Grammy-nominated rapper, Mystikal, whose real name is Michael Tyler, on Monday September 19 pleaded not guilty to charges of rape and domestic violence, as well as drug possession.
According to a report on KALB-TV, the 51-year-old rapper’s lawyer Joel Pearce said, his client is innocent of all charges, after the Monday hearing in Ascension Parish Court in Gonzales, Louisiana.
“This isn’t the first time a grand jury has gotten it wrong about Michael Tyler,” said Pearce.
Pearce also claimed he doesn’t know what Tyler’s accuser is accusing him of damaging, though AP reported that the charge refers to her broken Apple Watch band.
His charges include first-degree rape, false imprisonment, robbery, criminal damage to property, domestic abuse battery by strangulation, possession of marijuana, Xanax, methamphetamine, heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
