Students from the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Abeokuta, Ogun State’s capital, turned up en masse, on Monday morning in a demonstration of protest, against the fee increase.
The students, who flocked to the university gate in the early hours of the morning, were spotted gathering and waving banners to vent their displeasure. Personnel from the Nigeria Police Force were also there to ensure peace and order
While the state arm of the National Association of Nigerian Students, which is supporting the students in their protest, claims there’s been an increase in tuition for both new and returning students at the school, meanwhile, Mr Ajani Sodiq, Dean of the Division of Students Affairs, held on Monday morning that only prospective fresh students were impacted with the increment.
