Residents of Utako and parts of Wuye in Abuja were thrown into darkness on Monday following a power outage attributed to a technical fault by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).

In a public notice dated December 22, 2025, AEDC said the outage was caused by a fault on the feeder supplying electricity to the affected areas. The company noted that its technical team had been deployed and was working to restore supply as soon as possible, though no timeline was given.

“We regret to inform you that the current power outage is due to a technical fault affecting the feeder serving your area,” the company stated.

AEDC apologised for the inconvenience caused and appealed to customers for patience while repairs were ongoing. It also advised residents seeking updates to contact the company via its WhatsApp lines on 08152141414 and 08152151515, or its customer care line on 08039070070.
