Dangote Petroleum Refinery has commenced nationwide sales of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at a pump price of ₦739 per litre through all MRS Oil Nigeria Plc filling stations across the country.

The refinery said the rollout, which covers more than 2,000 MRS outlets nationwide, is aimed at making petrol more affordable for Nigerians while stabilising the downstream petroleum market.

In a statement, Dangote Refinery commended marketers that have complied with the new pricing and urged others to adopt the reduced pump price in support of Nigeria’s economic recovery.

“We commend MRS and other marketers who have demonstrated patriotism by reflecting the reduced price at the pump. We call on others to join this effort as a show of support for Nigeria’s economic recovery,” the statement read.

The refinery noted that the festive season is often characterised by fuel scarcity and price hikes but said its intervention had altered the market dynamics by ensuring steady supply and lower prices. It disclosed that the initiative is supported by a guaranteed daily supply of 50 million litres of PMS.

According to the company, local refining at scale is helping to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on imported fuel, conserve foreign exchange, stabilise the naira and strengthen the country’s energy security. It added that the sustained price reduction would ease pressure on households, businesses and transport operators.

Dangote Refinery also warned against attempts by some operators to create artificial scarcity following the price reduction, describing such actions as unacceptable and unpatriotic.

“Any attempt to create artificial scarcity or manipulate supply to frustrate recent price reductions is unacceptable. We urge regulatory authorities to remain vigilant and take firm action against such practices, especially during this critical festive period,” it said.

Consumers were advised to avoid buying petrol at inflated prices and to patronise outlets selling at the approved rate.

“We encourage Nigerians to avoid buying PMS at excessively high prices when they can access locally refined fuel at ₦739 per litre from over 2,000 MRS stations nationwide. Any MRS station selling above ₦739 per litre should be reported via 0800 123 5264,” the refinery stated.

The company further called on other petrol station operators to lift products from the refinery to ensure the price reduction is reflected across more outlets nationwide.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery reaffirmed its commitment to steady supply, price moderation and national energy security, stressing that its operations are guided by long-term national interest.

“Our objective remains to ensure consistent supply of high-quality petroleum products at affordable prices for Nigerians, while supporting economic stability and reducing dependence on imports,” the statement concluded.
