Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has commended faith-based missions for their role in promoting quality healthcare in Nigeria.

Obi gave the commendation on Friday during a visit to the Aguata Anglican Diocese, where he supported the revitalisation of the Good Hope Specialist Hospital, Isulo, Orumba South Local Government Area. He presented a cheque of N10 million as the first tranche of his contribution to the project.

Speaking at the event, Obi said his support was driven by his conviction that investment in healthcare is one of the most effective ways to uplift society. He recalled how a diocesan hospital in Amichi, which he had supported as governor, grew to host one of the leading schools of nursing in the country.

“I am confident that this facility at Isulo will follow the same path and become a beacon of hope for our people,” he said.

The Chairman of the Aguata Diocesan Hospital Board and Archdeacon of Ezira Archdeaconry, Ven. Dr. M. C. Obi, who received the donation, expressed gratitude for Obi’s gesture. He assured that the Diocese would put the hospital to optimal use and transform it into a centre of excellence for healthcare delivery.
