The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in joint operations with the Nigerian Army and Police, has foiled repeated attacks on Nteng village in Deomak District, Qua’an-Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Commander of the NSCDC Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad, Commandant Apollos Dandaura, confirmed the development while lamenting the spate of attacks on communities in the area. He said the operations were carried out in line with directives from the NSCDC Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi.
According to him, the communities have been under siege from suspected bandits who target farmers, destroy property, and exploit the difficult terrain to evade security response. He noted that the attacks had resulted in deaths, destruction of farmland, a primary healthcare centre, and displacement of over 4,000 residents, many of whom are now taking refuge in a local primary school.
Dandaura explained that the success of the rescue mission was due to coordinated efforts with the Nigerian Army, which mounted a joint guard operation in Nteng village to restore confidence among residents and enable their safe return.
He assured that security agencies will continue to protect affected communities, including Doop, Keolakan, Jepmorop, and Gorom, while revealing that the NSCDC will deploy its Agro Rangers Squad to provide security for farmers, foster peace between herders and farmers, and prevent further attacks.
