The Rivers State governor, a member of the major opposition PDP, backed Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress on Tuesday.
However, during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Chidoka, a member of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, stated that while Wike is free to consort with anyone he wants, the moral weight rests with the Rivers governor. He stated that the governor’s conduct will be reviewed by the party’s leadership.
Wike has been at odds with the PDP since losing the presidential primaries to Atiku. Efforts to mediate the disagreement have thus far failed, despite the governor’s insistence on the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.
According to Chidoka, Wike’s attitude poses a risk for the PDP’s future chairman.
