On Sunday, five governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) met behind closed doors in Enugu state.

Governors present at the meeting included Samuel Ortom of Benue, Nyesom Wike of Rivers, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, and Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia.

The governors conducted a crucial meeting in the Enugu Government House to discuss subjects of public concern, according to reports, the meeting lasted several hours.

The meeting comes amid the party’s crisis over calls for Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national head, to resign.

The five governors were also absent from the PDP presidential campaign council’s inauguration on September 28.

Meanwhile, Wike’s allies have stated unequivocally that they will not campaign for the party in the 2023 presidential race if Ayu does not stand down as chairman.
