The Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has dared the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu to suspend him if they so choose and prepare for the repercussions.

Wike said this during a live media interview, Friday, September 23, in Port Harcourt, adding that if the party makes such a decision, they will know what he is capable of.

In response to the query of whether the retinue of visitors from other political parties that visited him in the midst of the party’s crisis did not constitute anti-party activities, he gave this response,

“If you are an asset people will come to you. Who is a pretty girl that people don’t want to talk to?”

The governor added that:

“If Ayu says he loves this party so much and wants it to win elections, he should keep his word and leave.”

Wike also claimed that Ayu used delegates and manipulated the PDP’s presidential primary to ensure the victory of  presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the 2023 elections.

Wike questioned why the PDP could not zone the presidential ticket to the south if the All Progressives Congress (APC) decided to zone the presidential ticket to the south after President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.

He claimed that Atiku and his supporters believe they have people in the presidency who support the PDP presidential candidate.

Wike later stated specific actions Atiku and Ayu can take to resolve the PDP crisis, insisting that the office of national chairman be returned to the south after the north had won the presidential nomination.
