The Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa, and the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, were in Bauchi State on Wednesday to meet with defectors from other political parties.
Speaking at a North-East stakeholders’ meeting which held at the Multi-Purpose Indoor Sports Hall of the stadium, Ayu confirmed he had accepted over 300,000 defectors into the PDP in Bauchi State.
Others in attendance included Aminu Tambuwal, the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum and the Director General of the Presidential Campaign Council, as well as former Vice President Namadi Sambo.
The governors of Bauchi, Bala Mohammed, Adamawa, Umaru Fintiri, and Taraba, Darius Ishaku, as well as their deputies, were present.
Former governors of Jigawa, Sule Lamido; Adamawa, Boni Haruna, and Gombe, Ibrahim Dankwambo; and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki were among those present.
However, none of the governors and PDP chieftain loyal to Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike were present at the gathering.
