Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has appointed a puff-puff seller in Osogbo as a chef at the Government House after purchasing her entire stock and giving her N50,000.
The incident, captured in a viral video, occurred during one of the governor’s recent visits within the state. In the footage, Adeleke’s convoy stopped near a busy market where he interacted with the hawker. After asking the cost of her goods, he paid N50,000 for everything she had on sale and subsequently offered her a job.
The gesture has drawn wide attention on social media, with many praising it as an act of compassion and support for small-scale traders. Supporters described it as a reflection of the governor’s commitment to empowering ordinary citizens amid the country’s economic difficulties.
Some critics, however, noted that while the move was generous, it does not address the broader economic challenges confronting low-income earners in the state.
Governor Adeleke has not issued an official statement on the development, but the video continues to generate debate on leadership, economic empowerment, and social responsibility in Osun State.
