The Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has finally married his fourth wife, Princess Ashley.
The royal wedding which kicked off with traditional rites, at the residence of late Prince Adeniyi Adegoke’s family house, situated on Olubose Street, along Ede road, the ancient city of Ile Ife, had in attendance the king’s family members, his chiefs, the royal guards and the royal staff, with the King in absence.
The ceremony later moved to the Palace of the Ooni, where the King and his new wife finally tied the knot, setting the ancient city of Ile Ife, agog with fanfare.
Ashely who has been a long time concubine of the monarch, ceases to be a princess, as she finally takes up the title of a Queen, and the King’s fourth wife, as he already has three wives who he married within two months.
Many expressed excitement over the good news as they noted how the Princess Ashley deserved a place at the King’s throne.
Recall in September, Ooni welcomed Queen Mariam into his palace as his first wife, at the time, Queen Elizabeth Ogunwusi was betrothed to him in Magodo, Lagos, few days after his first marriage. Tobi Phillips, was the third queen to be married to the monarch on October 9, 2022.
Meanwhile, news has it that the Ooni is set to marry a 5th and 6th wife.
The incoming queens have been the King’s concubine before he married Queen Wuraola Otiti and Queen Noami Silekunola.
