The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has impounded five trucks and arrested a suspect in Rivers State for alleged oil theft.

Michael Ogar, the corps’s state commandant, stated this in a statement issued by the corps’s spokesperson, Olufemi Ayodele, on Friday, November 18th in Port Harcourt.

According to him, the trucks were impounded for transporting petroleum products without haulage licenses and other required documents.

The suspect, Abubakar Suleiman, 20, was arrested in Port Harcourt for transporting illegally refined products in a truck, according to the commandant.

Ogar went on to say that the truck was transporting illegally refined automotive gas oil along with packs of noodles.

He went on to say that another truck carrying 36,000 litres of PMS had been impounded, and that the last three trucks had been taken to the command’s exhibit yard at Ogbogoro jetty.

“Let me take this opportunity to reiterate that we will not relent in our fight against oil theft and illegal petroleum product dealings in Rivers.”

“As a result, the NSCDC Rivers Command will work with relevant security agencies to rid the state of illegal oil bunkering.”

“I can assure you that, following a thorough investigation, the suspect will be charged in court, and the tankers and their contents will be forfeited to the Federal Government.”

“I also want to warn those who have refused to repent of such heinous crime that they will face the full wrath of the law,” he continued.
