Ex-millitary leader Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, and security officers discovered 42 more crude oil bunkering locations on the nation’s oil pipelines in the two states of Delta and Bayelsa yesterday, increasing the total number of sites to 58.
The discovery came after bunkerers, enraged at the head of the disbanded Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, for exposing their illegal operation, allegedly sent threat messages to him and operatives of his security agency, Tantita Security Services Limited, TSSL, in recent weeks.
Last Thursday, TSSL apprehended a vessel suspected of belonging to an oil syndicate, which was on its way to carry crude oil from a secret site in Delta State.
However, Tompolo, who spoke to media yesterday in Oporoza, the traditional headquarters of the Gbaramatu kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, downplayed the oil bunkerers’ threat.
