The Kogi State Government has filed a lawsuit against Dangote Cement Plc over ownership of the state’s Obajana Cement Plant.
The state’s stance came after peace negotiations between Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and the chairman of Dangote Cement Plc, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, failed to produce a favourable outcome.
The National Security Council was notified yesterday by the peace negotiations that an agreement had been reached between the two parties to reopen the facility in the benefit of the employees.
Kogi State Information Commissioner Kingsley Fanwo said in a statement yesterday that the state administration and stakeholders representing the state’s various ethnic groups decided to move to court on the subject during an emergency meeting on Thursday night.
