Nottingham Forest has announced the appointment of Sean Dyche as the club’s new Head Coach following what it described as a “thorough recruitment process” led by Global Head of Football, Edu Gaspar, and Global Technical Director, George Syrianos.

In a statement posted on its official X handle on Tuesday, the club said it was “delighted to confirm the appointment of Sean Dyche as the Club’s new Head Coach.”

Dyche, a former Nottingham Forest youth player, joins on a contract running until the summer of 2027 and will take charge of his first game on Thursday night when The Reds face FC Porto in the Europa League.

He will be joined by an experienced backroom team, including Ian Woan and Steve Stone both former Forest players who made over 400 appearances for the club during the 1990s.

Describing Dyche as “a respected and experienced Premier League manager,” Nottingham Forest said he brings “the perfect blend of character, tactical acumen, and proven achievement to guide the club through its next chapter.”

The statement highlighted Dyche’s managerial record, noting that he has overseen more than 330 Premier League matches and is known for building teams defined by defensive organisation, resilience, and strength from set pieces qualities that align with Forest’s footballing identity.

The club also praised Dyche’s strong connection to Nottingham and its supporters, saying: “As a former Forest youth player who lives locally, Dyche understands the values and pride of Forest and its community.”

Expressing optimism about the appointment, the club added: “With his leadership, tactical expertise, and man-management skills, Dyche’s appointment offers the best opportunity for a successful and competitive season across both domestic and European competitions.”

Dyche will officially begin his tenure when Nottingham Forest take on FC Porto in the Europa League on Thursday.
