Lando Norris delivered a composed and strategic drive to claim victory at the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix, narrowly edging out teammate Oscar Piastri in a thrilling McLaren one-two finish.
Despite dropping from third to fifth at the start, Norris bounced back with a smart one-stop strategy that helped him leapfrog pole-sitter Charles Leclerc and gain crucial track position.
Piastri, who had initially been ahead, regained momentum after the second round of pit stops and closed the gap on Norris in the closing laps.
In a nail-biting final lap, Piastri’s attempt to snatch the win nearly ended in disaster as a late lock-up almost led to contact between the teammates. Ultimately, Norris held firm to take the chequered flag, reducing Piastri’s championship lead to just nine points heading into the summer break.
Behind the McLaren pair, Mercedes’ George Russell claimed the final podium spot with a late overtake on a fading Leclerc, who struggled for pace in the final stint and had to settle for fourth.
Fernando Alonso delivered Aston Martin’s best result of the season with a strong fifth-place finish, followed by Sauber rookie Gabriel Bortoleto in sixth—his best result to date. Lance Stroll backed up Alonso’s performance with seventh place.
Racing Bulls’ Liam Lawson came home eighth, while Max Verstappen endured a challenging weekend, finishing ninth. The Red Bull driver is under investigation for a controversial move on Lewis Hamilton, who ended a frustrating race in 12th.
Young Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli rounded out the top 10, securing more points in an increasingly competitive midfield.
