The National Security Council confirmed the Federal Government’s position on the status of the case against Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), stating that Kanu still has a case to answer.

On Thursday, an Appeal Court in Abuja discharged and acquitted Kanu’s terrorism litigation

However, the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, stated that Kanu had not been acquitted since he is still facing additional charges.

The National Security Council, chaired over by President Muhammadu Buhari, stated that the government is evaluating the next action to be taken on the subject in due course, but that Kanu had not been acquitted, despite being freed of some charges in the allegations against him.
