At least nine people, including children, have died in a fatal bus accident in central Vietnam, authorities confirmed on Friday.
The incident occurred around 1:45 a.m. local time in Ha Tinh province, when a passenger bus en route from the capital, Hanoi, to Danang lost control, struck multiple traffic signposts, and overturned.
According to a government statement, the victims ranged in age from 4 to 49. An additional 16 passengers sustained injuries and have been hospitalised.
While the cause of the accident has not yet been determined, an official investigation is expected to follow.
Traffic accidents remain a major safety concern in Vietnam. Data from the National Statistics Office shows that 5,024 people died in road crashes in the first half of 2025—a slight decrease from 5,343 deaths recorded during the same period in 2024.
