On Monday, November 21st, NEPC Trade Promotion Advisor Bello Noma led his colleagues on a sensitization visit to the News Agency of Nigeria in Jos.

Noma predicted that oil, “the nation’s main export,” would one day run out, leaving the country with non-oil products.

Furthermore, more than 200 countries signed an agreement to phase out the use of fossil fuels a few years ago.

“This also includes the crude oil we boast about, so by the time this is implemented, we will have no market.”

So there will be a problem if we do not diversify our economy and embrace the non-oil sector.

“That is why we are now advocating and sensitizing the public to the importance of the nation’s vast non-oil potential.”

He also stated that Nigeria is endowed with abundant non-oil resources in each state of the federation, which are not being fully utilized.

According to the trade promotion advisor, the council had set aside a week to raise awareness of the country’s rich non-oil potential in order to increase non-oil product exports.

Noma stated that they were in the media to seek its assistance in publicizing the council’s activities.

He went on to say that what they were doing was informing the public that “there is a lot of money in the non-oil sector.”
