Some physically-challenged persons on Wednesday staged a protest in the Surulere area of Lagos, causing a traffic gridlock that kept motorists on the roads for hours.
Athletes protesting were expressing their dissatisfaction with the purported exclusion of various sports from the upcoming National Sports Festival.
They gathered at the National Stadium and demanded that all para-sports that had previously been excluded from the festival be included.
Joyce Otun, a para-athlete among the demonstrators, stated that the demonstration was important since members of her group were being marginalized owing to their disability.
