The leadership of the National Assembly has announced the suspension of all legislative activities until Tuesday, July 22, 2025, in honour of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday in a London clinic after a prolonged illness.

In a statement issued on Monday, the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, said the directive came from the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas.

According to Ogunlana, the suspension is intended to pay maximum respect to the late former leader and allow lawmakers to fully participate in his burial activities.

He noted that Buhari would be remembered for his unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s unity and for upholding the values of integrity throughout his time in public service.
