President Muhammadu Buhari met with the 23 passengers freed from the March 28, 2022 Abuja-Kaduna train attack at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) hospital in Kaduna on Thursday.
The President’s media aide, Malam Garba Shehu, confirmed this in an Abuja statement on Thursday.
According to a presidential aide, Buhari paid an impromptu visit to the hospital after commissioning Cadets of the NDA’s 69 Regular Course (Army, Navy, and Air Force) in Afaka, Kaduna State.
Buhari detoured to the hospital before boarding NAF 001 back to Abuja from Kaduna International Airport, where he also thanked the Nigerian military for their valiant efforts in securing the hostages’ safe release.
Members of the Chief of Defence Staff Action Committee, which is chaired by retired Maj.-Gen. Usman Abdulkadir, who facilitated the train victims’ release, was present at the hospital.
Others are Retired Maj.-Gen. Adamu Jalingo and retired Brig.-Gen. Dr. Murtala Rufai, Ibrahim Abdulllahi, and Amb. Secretary Ahmed Magaji and Prof Yusuf Usman
Gen. Leo Irabor, Chief of Defence Staff, had earlier introduced the Committee members and briefed the president.
