A little drama unfolded at the Bayelsa State Judiciary Complex in Yenagoa, where alleged celebrity kidnapper John Ike Lyon and his accomplice, Emmanuel Angase, were arraigned on a 14-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, abduction, and armed robbery.
When the accused were ready to be led into the waiting police van after pleading not guilty to the 14-count charge before Justice Ineikad Eradiri of Bayelsa State High Court 6, they requested to speak to the press, claiming that they were being threatened in police custody.
The accused then refused to get into the police Hilux van, insisting on being brought to the Yenagoa Prisons as the presiding judge had directed.
When their attorney informed them that their jail remand order had not yet been approved by the court, the cops pushed them into the police vehicle.
John Lyon began sobbing and shouting that his health in police custody was worsening.
