On Thursday, September 29, the Anambra government through its Commissioner for Information, Chief Paul Nwosu, issued a statement announcing the suspension of tricycle and shuttle bus unions as part of its efforts to address the state’s rising security breaches.
Nwosu stated that the government’s action was prompted by security reports that implicated most operators of the affected unions, in the state’s breakdown of law and order.
He claimed that leadership squabbles within unions were also causing conflicts and disrupting the peaceful movement of state residents.
Nwosu also stated that the suspension would be in effect until further investigations and union harmonization were completed.
