Igbinosa Eghosa, a doctorate student at the University of Benin’s Faculty of Engineering, has created a lightweight utility vehicle.

Professor Akaehomen Ibhadode, who also headed the team to submit the vehicle to the University’s Management, oversaw Eghosa of the Department of Production Engineering’s development of the vehicle.

According to a statement posted on UNIBEN’s Facebook page on Thursday, the lightweight vehicle will reshape and propel the nation’s transportation and agriculture industries. He went on to say that with enough financing, the car could be mass-produced since the design could meet transportation demands even in small towns.

The project supervisor, stated that more than 80% of the materials utilised in the truck’s manufacturing were found locally.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Lilian Salami, thanked the team for encouraging local manufacturing and stated the University’s willingness to collaborate with the Faculty in the creation of certain vehicles for the Institution’s usage.
