The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has approved a major redeployment of senior officers across the Nigeria Police Force, ordering the immediate posting and reassignment of dozens of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and two Superintendents of Police (SUPOLs) nationwide.
The directive, which takes effect from January 1, 2026, was issued on Tuesday through a police wireless message from the Force Security Department at Force Headquarters, Abuja. It covers officers serving in all states as well as key operational and specialised formations.
According to the message, the redeployments affect senior officers posted to Mobile Police Force (MOPOL) units, Interpol, Anti-Human Trafficking, Maritime, Disaster Management, Intelligence, Finance and Accounts, and other specialised departments. Officers in operations, research and development, the X-Squad, Airport and Railway commands, Education and Training, as well as tactical units such as Bomb Disposal, K-9 and Mounted Police, were also affected.
The reshuffle includes the appointment of new Commanding Officers to several strategic Mobile Police squadrons across the country. Among them are ACP Kabiru Adeshina Akinroye as Commanding Officer, MOPOL 17 Akure; ACP Emmanuel Olusola Oyewole, MOPOL 33 Ado-Ekiti; ACP Ogungbe Mi Igbekele, MOPOL 12 Minna; ACP Stephen Olusola Olatise, MOPOL 4 Ibadan; ACP Nnaji Agha Chima, MOPOL 26 Uyo; ACP Atanda Olubunmi Otitoola, MOPOL 59 Bajoga; ACP Alkali Lamido, MOPOL 58 Lafia; ACP Awoyale Olufemi Olayinka, MOPOL 16 Abeokuta; and ACP Obideyi Olusoji Abraham, MOPOL 13 Makurdi.
Several ACPs were also redeployed to specialised units and Force Headquarters. These include ACP Haruna Shehu Shagari to Anti-Human Trafficking (FCID Annex, Kaduna); ACP Ahahnana Gabriel Onuh to Interpol, Abuja; ACP Ogaarashi Chima to Marine Operations (FHQ); ACP Ejiofor Grace Obiageli to the Disaster Management Unit (FHQ); ACP Umar Bashir Mohammed to Research and Development (FHQ); and ACP Henry Yanet Kaboshio as Camp Commandant at Force Headquarters, among others.
The directive further filled critical Area Commander positions across the federation, with new postings to locations including Dikwa and Askira Uba in Borno State, Uromi in Edo State, Metro Ilorin in Kwara State, Moniya and Agodi in Oyo State, Osogbo in Osun State, Dala and Rano in Kano State, Ikere-Ekiti in Ekiti State, Tinnapa in Cross River State, Ohaukwu and Onueke in Ebonyi State, Kaltungo in Gombe State, and several other strategic areas.
State commands, zonal offices and specialised formations also recorded changes in Assistant Commissioner roles covering Operations, Criminal Investigation Departments, Finance and Administration, X-Squad, Intelligence, Railway, Airport and Training units across the country.
The IGP stressed that all postings take effect immediately and warned officers placed on higher responsibilities not to assume ranks they have not been officially promoted to, underscoring the need for strict compliance with the Force’s disciplinary and command structure.
