IGP Egbetokun Decorates One DIG, Four AIGs, 11 CPs With New Ranks

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Tuesday decorated newly promoted senior police officers at a ceremony held at the Goodluck Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja.

According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Benjamin Hundeyin, the event reflected the IGP’s commitment to recognizing hard work, professionalism, and dedication to duty.

At the ceremony, one Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) was promoted to Deputy Inspector-General (DIG), four Commissioners of Police (CPs) to AIGs, and eleven Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to substantive CPs.

Those decorated include DIG Mohammed Dankwara, AIGs Denimen Abibo, Umar Madaki, Nkechi Eze, and Garba Nzukwen, as well as CPs Naziru Kankarofi, Nendel Gomwalk, Tijani Fatai, Aniefok Akpan, and Moorkwap Dongshal, among others.

The officers were among 923 who passed the rigorous and transparent promotion exercise conducted by the Police Service Commission (PSC) after recommendation by the IGP. The process included written examinations and interviews.

Dignitaries present at the event included former Plateau State Governor and Senator representing Plateau South, Simon Lalong; Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri; former Zamfara State Governor, Abdul-Aziz Yari; Senator Tony Nwoye (Anambra North); Senator Iya Abbas (Adamawa Central); and Senator Ede Dafinone (Delta Central).

Others in attendance were the Minister of State for Regional Development (FCT), Alhaji Ahmadu; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Ambassador Gabriel Aduda; Chairman, Board of Trustees of Al-Hikmah University, Alhaji (Dr.) Abdul-Raheem Oladimeji; members of the Force Management Team; serving and retired senior officers; as well as families and friends of the honourees.

In his address, IGP Egbetokun congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to demonstrate leadership anchored on integrity, fairness, and professionalism.

He charged them to embrace community-oriented and intelligence-led policing and to deploy innovative strategies to stay ahead of emerging security threats.

The IGP further reminded them that their promotion was both a recognition of past achievements and a call to greater responsibility in service to the nation.
